Price

Of the nationally available motor fuels LPG has been the cheapest for years. The relatively low price is the result of such factors as the lower excise tax imposed upon it; due to its favourable environmental effects LPG is taxed less per litre than petrol or diesel.

Because LPG is a petroleum product, the price of LPG is linked to the oil price. Nonetheless LPG does not always follow the price fluctuations of petrol and diesel. One of the reasons for this is its different dynamics in terms of supply and demand. For example, the demand for (and thus the price of) LPG for heating use is often great in the winter.
